City of God

It's been a long, long time since I saw a movie as good as City of God. Great storytelling, catchy cinematography, gritty as gritty gets--we were rammed through tales of tragedy, poverty, and lost innocence at breakneck speed--and, to top it all off, there's the message at the end declaring "based on a true story". Having missed whatever publicity this movie might have received, I'd had no idea. My jaw dropped wide open.

It's a foregone conclusion that I'll be watching this again--heck, I might even pay to watch it this time.
